Living dangerously means, whenever there are alternatives, beware: don't choose the convenient, the comfortable, the respectable, the socially accepptable, honorable. Choose something that rings a bell in your heart. Choose something that you would like to do, in spite of any consequences.

The coward thinks of consequences: "If I do this, what will happen? What will be the result?" He is more concerned about the result. The real man never thinks of the consequences. He thinks only of the act, in this moment. He feels that, "This is what is appealing to me. And I am going to do." Then whatever happens is welcome. He will never regret.

A real man never regrets, never repents, because he has never done anything against himself. And the coward dies thousands of times before death and continuously regrets, repents: that it would have been better if he had done that, married that man, that woman, chosen that profession, gone to that college. Thousands of alternatives are always there, and you cannot do all.

Gevaarlijk leven betekent: wees op je hoede wanneer er alternatieven zijn. Kies niet voor het gemakkelijke, het comfortabele, het respectabele, het sociaal aanvaardbare, het eervolle. Kies iets dat een snaar in je hart raakt. Kies iets wat je graag zou willen doen, ondanks de mogelijke gevolgen.

De lafaard denkt aan de gevolgen: "Als ik dit doe, wat zal er dan gebeuren? Wat zal het resultaat zijn?" Hij maakt zich meer zorgen over het resultaat. De echte mens denkt nooit aan de gevolgen. Hij denkt alleen aan de daad, in dit moment. Hij voelt: "Dit spreekt me aan, en ik ga het doen." Wat er daarna gebeurt, wordt aanvaard. Hij zal nooit spijt hebben.

Een echte mens heeft nooit spijt, nooit berouw, omdat hij nooit iets tegen zichzelf heeft gedaan. Maar de lafaard sterft duizend doden vóór zijn echte dood en heeft voortdurend spijt, berouw: dat het beter was geweest als hij dat had gedaan, met die man of vrouw was getrouwd, dat beroep had gekozen, naar die school was gegaan. Er zijn altijd duizenden alternatieven, maar je kunt ze niet allemaal kiezen.
